![]() MakeMKV works great with DVD and Blu-ray discs. There is a lot of good information in those links. and I want to investigate how to rip the blu rays too because I have a BD writer and a couple of disks I would like to backup.(I thought that was 100% impossible in Linux as well has listening to an original Blu-ray film. A lot of people will rip their movie discs into digital video files using MakeMKV for a backup, mobile devices (phones, tablets, etc.) and or for media servers, etc. Using Flatpak on Ubuntu and Other Linux Īlthough Handbrake does a fairly good job with copying movie video discs, MakeMKV is the best and fastest movie disc ripper that I know of in Linux. Yet, 2.7gb is huge even for flatpaks, are you sure that does not include a DVD viodeo file(s) that has been ripped? FYI: "QDirStat" is an excellent app for viewing folder and file sizes. have all the supporting packages built-in (usually) thus their installation sizes can be quite large. ![]() Certain software packaged as Flatpak, Snap, AppImages, etc. You can go back into the Software Manager and remove handbrake from their flatpak option or use a console terminal command. The superb Handbrake application has a PPA which I would recommend over Flatpak or Snap packages. ![]()
